Glass magnate Edward Libbey helped to shape downtown Ojai when he financed the construction of the Arcade, Post Office, and Libbey Park. Community leaders said thank you with the first Ojai Day in 1917, held in his honor. While the early event faded away after several years, It was revived in 1991 by local teacher and historian Craig Walker. Since that time it has returned each October, except for a break in 2020 due to pandemic restrictions.
The event includes vendors, entertainment, food and activities for the whole family with an emphasis on celebrating the local community. It is traditionally celebrated on the 3rd Saturday in October at Libbey Park and the surrounding areas.
